China digital
times (2013) argues that L’Oreal faces a major
dilemma as it plans to enter China and this is because of the requirement by
China to conduct tests on animals. According to the author, the EU has
forbidden animal testing but the practice is ripe in China given the influence
of Chinese legal requirements. Therefore, it will be difficult for the firm to
avoid using animal testing in order to get their products approved for sale in
the Chinese markets. However, the firm is working with Chinese authorities in
order to develop alternative approval methods which will help ensure entry into
the market.
